Catering FAQ’s

Q: Can Chives Cater any size of event? Is there a minimum number of people my event must feed? Is there a maximum number of people that Chives can prepare catered food for?  

A. Please submit all catering requests – we will do our best to accommodate your specific needs!

Q: Does Chives offering catering on any day of the year?  

A. Chives Café is closed for catering on New Years Day and Christmas Day. We’ll be glad to cater your event on any other day of the year!

Q. How do I obtain a quote for a catering event I am planning/hosting?

A. Please fill out a  “Submit Catering Order Request” Form (link) and we will respond to you ASAP.  For urgent catering matters please call Chives Café Directly and we will be happy to help.

Q. I don’t see what I am looking for listed on your sample menus- am I able to make special requests?

A.  Absolutely!

Q. What types of events does Chives provide catering for?

A. Chives offers specialized and professional catering for intimate gatherings, large office and home party events, holiday occasions and more.

Q. Does Chives Require a Minimum Deposit Amount before confirming my catering event?

A. Chives requires a 50% deposit on confirmed catering orders at the time of confirmation. This deposit is fully refundable if cancellation occurs more than 72 hours in advance. Cancellations made few than 72 hours in advance will result in a cancellation fee equal to the 50% order deposit amount. NOTE: this cancellation policy only applies to catering orders that do not require specially ordered food items.

Q. Does Chives provide tables, chairs and other equipment for my catered event?  

A. Events hosted at the come fully equipped . Events outside of Café  require  consumer to provide equipment.

Q. How far in advance do I need to place my catering order?

A.The sooner the better! For most catering events Chives requires at least 24 hours of advanced notice.

Q. What forms of payment can I use to purchase my catering order?

A. Chives gladly accepts Cash, cheques, or Credit Card payments (Visa or Mastercard only).

Q. Can Chives Deliver My Catering Order to my event location?

A. Chives will make all efforts to deliver catering orders to the event location. However, delivery availability depends on the event location and time. Where delivery does occur, an additional service fee will apply.

A. Chives is an ideal location for any type of party or special event including:

Q. How much does it cost to host an event at the Chives Café ?

A. Café Rental Rates are as follows:

  •     Hourly Rate: $80/hr
  •     Half Day Rate (4 hours): $300
  •     Full Day Rate (8 hours): $600

Q. If I rent the Café for an event, am I able to bring my own food?

A. Yes certainly. However, there will be an additional cost if Chives Café will be providing your rental equipment (plates, flatware etc).  Rental of the Café is outside only and does not include kitchen rentals, therefore- the selected event caterer will need to provide all of his/her own catering facilities and equipment.  Chives Café requires that an official contract agreement be signed by the renter and the external event caterers that clearly stipulates all venue restrictions for Café rentals.
